Turks in Russia, Putin Petition: End the hate propaganda

Fees diplomatic war between Ankara and Russia continues, thousands of Turks living in Russia fear that things to have changed from the time the enforcement of sanctions.

They have opened an online petition to President Putin and other senior officials of the Russian, who are called to stop the propaganda of national hatred against Turks. The petition also calls the immigration authorities to allow Turkish citizens to continue to live and work comfortably.

In the region of Tatarstan, Tatar ethnic group dominates, of Turkish origin, where Turkish companies have invested more than 1 billion pounds and are responsible for 25% of all foreign investment.

"Tatars and Turks have a very strong connection between them", explains the head of a regional development agency Minullina Taliya. It adds that the link between them is a fact obvious to all and it does not depend on politics, after uniting origin, language, religion and culture.

While Minister of Culture in Russia, Vladimir Medinsky ordered Tatarstan and some other regions of Russia that Turkish ethnic groups, to sever all contacts with Turkey.

Also, the decision of the Russian Ministry of Education to terminate contracts with Turkish universities academic has prompted numerous reactions.

Despite officials said there would be no sanctions against Turkish students in Russia, there have been reports of increased harassment and fear in the community of Turkish students. In the city of Saratov, police searched the rooms of 20 students with sniffer dogs for drug use, using as selection criteria, their nationality. Students were questioned if they use drugs, as well as if they were provided with documents.

In a group in the "Facebook", opened specially by the Student Council for Turkish students in Russia, advises them not to go out in nightclubs or theaters, except in urgent cases, and only accompanied in large groups.
